Get a voucher and meet us at SPS IPC DRIVES 2013 exhibition

I and my colleague are going to exhibit at SPS IPC DRIVES on 26. – 28.11.2013 at Nuremberg, Germany. This is the very first time we go out for such event as exhibitor.

The Argon offer available from our booth!

The Argon offer available from our booth! The banner says Open Source firmware, which is planned to be release right after the exhibition.

I warmly welcome everyone to visit the greatest automation fair SPS IPC DRIVES with a free entry voucher. To register as visitor, use Granite Devices voucher code 130748463 at www.mesago.com/sps/tickets. Trust me, there’s tons of amazing stuff to see and one full day is hardly enough to walk trough it.

Two days left & Fullfilment changes

Two more days left on introductory pricing of Argon. When it’s gone, it’s gone!

On the other news, we’re today shipping the very first batch of products to a warehouse service located in London where they pack & ship the products around the world. This yields more consistent shipping response time, faster delivery method and reduced shipping cost at the same time!

The fulfilment service has warehouses also in the US and Hong Kong where we may expand stocking later on. This would enable very low shipping cost and freeing from customs hassle from the US or Asian customer point of view. The service soon opens new warehouses also in Germany and Australia which makes things even better!

ARGON servo drive available with introductory discount one more week!

The €100 introductory discount per Argon drive is valid until 4.10.2013. No minimum or maximum order quantity limits apply!

The introductory offer of Argon

The one time introductory offer of Argon

Argon production is finally fully operational, so no longer long waits! After placing the order (until Oct 4), there is 21 days time to complete payment to keep the order and discount active. For ordering, see Argon web shop.

Update: whooops, I had wrong month name here (Aug). Now fixed to Oct!

Factory visit

Today I visited the factory manufacturing Argon drives and delivered the testing system as designed earlier and instructed them the usage of it.

SMT assembled Argon circuit boards on a tray waiting for automatic optical inspection (AOI)

Regardless of Asian EMS services eating European manufacturers’ jobs, this company seems to be doing very well. There were brand new SMT pick’n’place machines and nitrogen atmosphere wave soldering equipment waiting for commissioning to increase the number of manufacturing lines. I was told that the nitrogen atmosphere soldering gives better solder quality than normal air atmosphere systems.

It seems that production is little bit behind from the last estimate, but these boards should be ready during this week if they accept the testing system as is. There was some talk about how to change it for their habits better, but I hope its quick change if needed.

Granity 1.0.1

Granity got updated, already! Many of it’s new features are inspired by an excellent user feedback. The changes are:

  • Set Abs and Set Inc buttons to change setpoint manually
  • Display list of all parameters together with graphs – becomes useful when saving graphs as the list of parameters gets included in the file as well
  • Safe Torque Off status is now displayed

Keep the feedback & ideas coming! Fixing the found issues and making important improvements is the first priority for us.

Official Granity and Argon user guide now out!

The first official release of Granity software, Argon user guide and Argon firmware has been just published! To begin, read through the Argon user guide, download Granity from here and the latest firmware from here.

There may be (and probably is) some gaps in the documentation and software bugs at the moment, so be careful! Feel free to leave comments and even contribute to the Wiki directly.

Argon user guide & Granity release this week

Just as a quick update: the first revisions of Argon user guide on wiki and Granity software shall be ready during this week which finally allows the real utilization of the drives. Stay tuned!

In the other news: manufacturing of the next batch of Argons has been scheduled for this week, too. We should have more units available for shipping by the end of the next week (but I’m optimistic about it: could happen even on this week)!

Granity preview downloadable

I made work-in-progress preview version of Granity available for download so one can already take a look around it and perhaps even provide some initial feelings about it! I also added a new poll about how you would like the software to be distributed.
